no, no and no.

there is currently zero chance for 3rd parties in america right now.

because the election rules, including things like who gets matching funds and participates in elections is all decided by the dems and repubs.

just for the record, neither of these parties is part of our constitution…

I already know that third parties have to actually petition to get their place on the ballot in each state. What’s another big issue, legally, that keeps third parties from power?

The votes are not counted at all if you are not the winner. It is not a popular vote where every vote counts. I always argue that if American Idol can do it why can’t the government. I think there is a fear they will lose control. Good question, makes no sense.

Simply put, third parties have played a significant role in bringing different issues to light. For example, the green party brings up ideas about how to improve the environment.

It’s a double-edged sword. Sometimes they are there to take away votes from the more popular parties, when sometimes they are there because they are passionate about their cause, of which no other party champions.
